Lock & Dam 27 – Lower Mississippi River Basin Major Rehabilitation

This project involved the replacement of the lift gate machinery and counterweight systems in the main lock and the auxiliary lock including demolition of existing systems, concrete drilling and formwork, painting, misc metals and electrical work.

Relevant items of work included barge fleeting, concrete removal/replacement by wire sawing and heavy crane lifts. Daily communication and coordination with the lock personnel was crucial. Work was accomplished during a winter lock closure.
